Dr. İrem Ela Yıldızeli is a London-based designer, art director, educator and researcher whose work explores the relationship between visual communication, culture and memory.

She began her career in Turkey’s leading advertising agencies, where her work received recognition from international creative festivals and was exhibited at the First Istanbul Design Biennial. Alongside her professional practice, she has developed a long-standing interest in how visual culture reflects the values, perceptions and identities of its time.

In 2007, her research took an unexpected direction following the discovery of personal documents belonging to her great-grandfather, Dr. Osman Şevki Uludağ (1889–1964) — physician, medical historian, composer and parliamentarian. This encounter initiated an ongoing investigation into cultural history, archives and the intellectual foundations of the early Turkish Republic. Her research resulted in the publication of two books exploring Uludağ’s writings on music and the arts, which are held in the collections of Harvard, Stanford and Princeton University libraries.

She furthered her studies with MA thesis on ‘Visualising History’ and 

Today, she is a Lecturer in Graphic Design at the London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) and continues her professional practice as Art Director for HighNote/Savant Records in New York and Eden River Records in Cologne.
